Top 3 Ways to Source Lab Diamonds

  • Buying your first diamond may seem like a daunting task, but it’s actually a lot simpler than you might think! Just follow these three simple steps, and you’ll be on your way to choosing the perfect diamond for your budget and needs!
  • How do you go about finding diamonds? Surely you could go to a jewelry store or trade fair and bet the farm? No, I understand though that’s a LOT of work- but it’s well worth it, because buying diamonds is simply about finding the best deals and selecting the ones that are of the highest quality. If you follow my initial checklist below, it should take no more than 3–5 minutes and leave you with a stack of certificates from your favorite jeweler!
  • Step 1: Review the grading standards used by recognized grading services & independent gemologists. This is not a practical guide, but for your reference, this chart from the American Gem Society is a great place to start.
  • Step 2: Use a reputable online retailer to find a stone that fits the criteria of your choice, according to the scale in step #1. When checking out, make sure to take note of any feedback you receive from your jewelry retailer. If you don’t, take us a critique on your store (listen to the audio tour we created for you) and we’ll be happy to craft a custom recommendation for you!
  • Step 3: Show the customer the diamond once it arrives at your door. To further encourage the jeweler to make the transaction, make sure to wrap the gift with care & give the customer plenty of opportunities to inspect, receive the gift, or return the item! If the customer is not satisfied, they are more than welcome to return the item for a full refund!
  • After you’ve placed your order and created an account at your preferred retailer, you’ll receive regular notifications that your order has been shipped! If your jewelry item arrives correctly, you will then be notified via email or app that your new gift is on its way.
  • Congratulations on finding a great friend & lover for life! You’ll never have to worry about their well-being ever again to the point where they get too close to you- because they’ll be safely placed with family & friends and allowed to live a long, happy life!
  • Best wishes for a joyous life filled with health & happiness, & an abundance of meaningful moments full of joy!

  • Although choosing a diamond is probably one of the most difficult aspects of owning a diamond, being presented with so many options can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when it comes to diamond jewelry.
  • Before we continue, we should probably make it clear that selecting our first diamond won’t be easy. In fact, it probably won’t be possible for the majority of us for the rest of our lives!
  • What could be more intimidating than trying to decide the perfect diamond for you, your lifestyle, and your style?
  • True, it can sometimes feel daunting to put on a piece of jewelry that will affect your finances, your relationships, or your looks for the rest of your life.
  • That being said, it’s possible to find the perfect diamond for you. The more realistic you are with your spending, the easier it will be for you to narrow down your options.
  • I’ve made the process of finding the perfect diamond as easy as possible, so you can avoid stressful and expensive situations down the road. I fully encourage you to take these three steps, and you’ll be on your way to finding your perfect diamond engagement ring, wedding band, or wedding band strap 😎
  • Here are the three steps to follow to pick your perfect diamond:
  • Step one: take inventory of your current jewelry purchases
  • Have you ever taken inventory of how much jewelry you have? You might be shocked to find how much you have on hand or how many rings, necklaces, and bracelets you have, and how many of new pieces you own that you don’t necessarily wear anymore because they don’t fit the same way.
  • Every time I buy new jewelry, my accountant reminds me why I’m buying different kinds of jewelry than before.
  • Whether it’s a new band, necklace, earring, or accessory, I’d like to be able to personally feel the material that the jewelry is made out of. That way, I know it will feel luxurious and luxurious means it’ll stay that way for as long as I wear it.
  • That’s an important step for finding a perfect fit.
  • The other thing I like to do is to open gift shops, and ask the employees what kind of jewelry they usually see customers wearing. They’re usually pretty candid and willing to chat about their favorite styles and trends.
  • This will help you figure out not only what kind of diamonds they prefer, but will also give you a general idea of how much money retailers usually pay for each stone in an engagement, wedding, or engagement ring.
  • The Importance of Determining Your Diamond Quality
  • There are various other factors when determining the quality and price of a diamond, such as:
  • An excellent engagement ring is even more valuable than a traditional diamond because it is often incredibly difficult to determine the authenticity of a piece of jewelry unless it was created in a lab.
  • Therefore, the question you need to ask yourself before you invest in a ring is: “do I want to purchase a wild sample, or do I want to leave it as is?”.
  • Is it ethical or viable to purchase wild samples?
  • Depending on where you live, finding diamonds can be quite involved, especially if you don’t have connections. An ethical diamond purchase is often recommended because these diamonds often come directly from the source, meaning that they likely came from workers that are incredibly paid, meaning those diamonds end up as cheaper than diamonds sourced through traditional means.
  • Furthermore, if ethical or similar diamond were to be discovered on the black market, there would be very little anyone could do because tracing the diamonds would be nearly impossible because the supply chain is so complex.
  • Nonetheless, if it’s an unique stone that’s a beautiful color, and you desire an independent source to purchase from, purchase one — but you should only do this if you’re absolutely certain that it is ethical.
  • The right diamond is in a color that you desire. The only thing to note is that it should ideally be a color that doesn’t match your skin tone, hair texture, or clothing. If you do find a color that’s a match for you, that’s a beautiful bonus, but not a requirement.
  • Expect to pay a few thousand dollars for a large, yellow-colored diamond. This means that you’ll need to purchase a stone that is very large in order to ensure that you’re getting a true wild sample. It’s also one of the most difficult stones to find as there aren’t many stores that carry large diamonds.
  • Looking for the Right Size Diamond
  • The process for purchasing a beautiful, unique diamond is the same no matter what type of diamond you want because the description of the diamond itself should tell you exactly what size it is.
  • Roughly speaking, if the diamond is pink, it’s a size 6 and increases to a size 8 when it’s cut to appear holographic. If it’s green, it’s a size 7, and increases to a size 9 when it’s cut to appear extremely clear. If it’s yellow, it’s a size 8, and increases as well to a size 10.
